Family and Child Programs Family Resource | Pre/Post-natal Care | Therapeutic Play Parents or caregivers bring their children up to age 6 to Applegrove's two free family resource programs to play, socialize and learn in a safe, supportive environment. These programs reduce adults' isolation and support children's development. Children enjoy crafts, the sand table, puzzles, song and story circles, snacks and more. Adults exchange parenting information, access resource libraries, attend workshops, learn about community services and lean on the staff and each other.
The Parent/Child Drop-In and Applegrove Connection will continue to be community hubs where parents, caregivers and children find programs and services that build on their strengths and help them navigate this journey: where parents and caregivers make connections and build relationships that are essential to realizing a child’s full potential; where they can learn, grow and connect together. It’s here that children can learn, play, laugh, be curious, make friends and engage with others; where they can build their sense of belonging and capacity for expression, enhance their own well-being and explore and engage with the world around them. We offer safe and welcoming environments open to all families, in a place where families and caregivers can find support, advice, personal connections and a network of resources. Where questions get answers, anxiety turns into peace of mind and a sense of solitude turns into a spirit of community. Applegrove | Applegrove Connection (formerly Edgewood)

Over The Rainbow is a therapeutic play group for young children who are experiencing behavioural and/or emotional difficulties in their interactions with other children or their parents. The program consists of 8 weekly sessions for children and parents. Children use music, art, drama and story-telling to explore feelings, experiences and behaviours, while parents discuss concerns in a supportive group environment. All children can have difficulties adjusting their emotional states to different life situations and as a result may be moody or have trouble listening, waiting, and/or making changes in routine. There can also be difficult social times when children learn to play and interact with other children. However, this group is designed for children who are having more difficulty than others and whose parents worry about the children's social and emotional health. This program is funded by the United Way of Greater Toronto's Success by 6 ® program.
